2nd IDEA for "photographing literature"

Another book that I was thinking of basing my idea off of is this book called "la luz es como el agua"which i read in spanish class. It's a short story about two kids that invite their friends over and turn on all the lights while their parents are out and they swim in the light but in the end up drowning. Its "Magical Realism" and is written by a very famous Latin American author named " Gabirel Garcia Marques"

ANYWAYS I found some photos that sum up my idea for this book:

The first two I do not know the artists but the last one is actually a painting by

With Christmas Coming up....

  • Should I look into getting a new lens? If so which one?
  • Should I look into getting a flash?
  • I don't really think I need a new camera, but does it make a big difference on the photographs depending on the quality of your camera?

  • Should I get a Film Camera?

DC Photoweek is amazzinng here are some of my ghetto iphone pictures of my favorite ones!

These groups of photos are amazing. The dresses make everything so comical and the story behind the ladies is pretty adorable. Idk i thought they were really interesting!

Representing Fockey!!!!

Loved the motion in this photograph aahhh

something about these two photos and how they almost mirror eachother but are completely different in themselves.

From the Oil Spill its something so gross but he makes it almost look beautiful

Love how its pitch dark but he illuminates things with light
(I want to do this for a project but HOW?

Children Weddings, Learned about this in Social Anthropology so I really enjoyed the photographs. A lot of the photographs from Photo week were focused on women in the Mideast

Nicholas Nixon: My inspiration for "Social Issues" project

I like how all the photos
go together because everyone is  in the same place every time. I want the mother on the right and the child on the left? I also like the B&W I can imagine how much the colors would take away from these photographs (instead of add) and what he is trying to show. That is why my photographs will also be B&W

One of the finals that I turned in!

I ended up liking to shoot Camille more than Angela for this project because she wasn't hiding behind the cloth her eyes stood out against the black cloth and her hair stood out with the blue cloth!

Re-Shooting!

This photograph was basically exactly what I was going for, incorporating movement and light. Mrs. Etten liked my other photos better than this but this is my personal favorite!

An example of one of my pictures i took!

ps. if someone has found my flash drive please return it!

I really like this picture because some parts of the fabric are sheer and some parts are opaque. I am going to re-shoot this weekend because when I did it with angela there was not alot of wind so I think the cloth didn't look as nice as i had wanted it to. If anyone wants to model for me please let me know! woowowowo

Portrait Project

I decided to use Will Davidson as my inspiration for my portrait photography because he has a set of photographs using fabric. I had thought of doing something like this last year but when i was searching through his photography it really made me want to do it. I really like the sheer fabric that you can let fall on someones face and give dimensions to the photography. Here are the photos that gave me my inspiration:
